Happy New Year’s to you all.  My apologies for the three week hiatus; at first I was suffering from holiday malaise, and then came the tragedy in Haiti…I just did not have the heart to blog.  I’m still sad, still praying for my people, but it’s time to get back to writing.  So here goes…

For the past couple of months I’ve been searching for my dream job.  The search has been really tough.  Partly since I am searching in one of the worst job markets ever, but mostly because I am determined to make a total career move.  In September I submitted my resume for an amazing position. One month later I was called in for the first interview.  You could not even imagine my level of enthusiasm.  The interview went well; I liked the interviewers, they liked me back.  We parted with handshakes and agreed to stay in touch.  I left excited and dreaming of the possibilities.  When I reached home I scribbled my signature over and over again with the prospective job title preceding my name.  A few weeks went by and I did not hear from them. I checked my phone; made sure my ringer was on.  I emailed myself to ensure that messages were going through. Then I became deflated. Just when I began to think “was I imagining that we hit it off?” they emailed.

Without skipping a beat I called back.  They wanted to arrange our next date meeting.  I brought a new outfit and just waited for the day.  By this time I was so invested I stopped sending my resume out for other prospects.  We had our second meeting and I swear it went even better than the first.  We exchanged pleasantries.  Conversation flowed.  We all lost track of time.  I was sure that I could stop searching.  It was the perfect fit.  They promised to call before the holidays.  We are twenty days into the New Year and they have not called.  They did send an email. I guess to keep me interested. Why can’t they just call…I just want to know?

So here I am, four months later, waiting and all I can think about is how much this PROCESS reminds me of my dating days.  The meet, the date, the wait for the next date.  The worst was when I thought “this is it!” and he never called.  Single Ladies, what do you then?  Do you call? Do you e-mail?  Do you get excited when he finally does call?  Here is what I really want to know (maybe a dude can answer) after a good first date and a great second date…why not just call?  If I am not the best candidate, I just want to know.

Special thanks to all the special brides we met at Roslyn Bridal Expo.  We had a blast and enjoyed networking with all the other lovely vendors.  What is that Rosey and I are holding?  Well that is a local Long Island magazine called Pulse – they are doing a feature on the show and on Petite-Fete – more updates on that to come!!

Amber darling I see you and your looking very booty 0<-< beautylicious I might add!  Eh, hello, I didn’t realize that is what you were working with!   Congrats to Amber over at Sprinkledinpink blog – she partnered with Just U Man to create a limited edition (available until Feb, 13)  baby tee and sexy panties in part promotion and part “self-love and empowerment.”  She said it best – “Fashionista” is my way of saying I am more than fashion, I am a woman.  A woman that does love her fashion but at my core I am always an individual with my own personal expression. You definitely inspire the fashionista and sexy goddess in me – keep it coming!

Think of this as the e-announcement before the official paper announcement.   Everyone wants to see the  pictures of your new baby as soon as the baby is born.  What a cute way to introduce the first few days of your little ones life to your family and friends.   First Announcement is the brain child of baby style maker Wendy Bellissimo.  Simply create an account, select a theme, add your recipeints email addresses (it can also automatically load your contacts from your e-mail), upload your photos and your done.  I took the site for a little spin and it actually took me less than five minutes to create.  This will save you the time of having to text and mass email baby pics on the fly.  Wendy has also launched a new online destination for all you new Mamas called Nesting, where you can chat it up with other moms and find out about the latest baby trends.  Love it!

Ayiti Cheri

Ayiti – also known in French as “La Perle des Antilles” – the Pearl of the Antilles because of its natural beauty.   An island that is  mountaineous, full of lush evergreen foliage, abundant tropical vegetation, mesmerizing turquoise beaches, and rushing waterfalls.   A culture that is rich in language, art, music, and history.  A people so full of pride knowing that some how – some way they will succeed at whatever they put their minds to.  Haitians are strong, resourceful, and know how to persevere in the face of every adversity.  This is the Ayiti that I know – the Ayiti that I lived in and the Ayiti that will once more rebuild its nation to be even better than before.
