I think I was 12 when I started flirting. I’m not sure that I knew what I was doing or if I had the words for what it was; but I understood the power I had in batting my eyes, twirling my hair and mischievously smiling whenever a cute boy passed by. It’s a good thing I started so early. By the time I hit the dating scene my flirting confidence was exactly where it needed to be. But when Sean winked I didn’t really know what to do.
I joined Match.com on a Wednesday and he winked the following Tuesday. If this were a real life scenario I would respond with a knowing smile or a casual toss of the hair. I never practiced CYBER FLIRTING. How different could it be from real life flirting? I figured I’d just apply my honed and learned flirting techniques to the virtual world… so I winked back.

Single Ladies, I hope that you created your enticing profile and signed up for two online dating sites because it’s time to take it to the next level and begin CYBER FLIRTING. The same real world rules apply. You may not be able to bat your eyes, smile at him from across the room, or time the perfect touch but you can still flirt your way to the first date. Here are three tips for CYBER FLIRTING: 1) Use the Emoticons- on most of the online dating sites you can use the integrated tools to show your interest. Send a smile, a wink or a hug to show your intent. Use sparingly, however, we are not teenagers. 2) Be Interesting- you must sale yourself, when you’re sending a message make sure to sound interesting and flirtatious and show some interest in him. Ask questions that are related to his profile. This shows that you took some time to read it. 3) Put your Sexiness in writing – Use that double entendre to make him read between the lines. Just like in a real life scenario you don’t want to give too much away – but think sexy, be crafty, and make sure you are flirtatiously funny when sending a message. My opening line to Sean: “your profile doesn’t tell me enough but I like your smile. Let’s meet for coffee so I can hear more about you.”
