A few months ago I had the pleasure of helping to host a baby shower for one of my dearest friends.  The theme of the fete was “feather-her-nest” and planning the event was so much fun!  Being that the mother-to-be has such discerning taste, the pressure was definitely on us to basically “Bring It!”  With the help of some of the mother- to- be friend’s we pulled off some really nice details.  Super cute boxed invitations were designed by Petite-Fete to drum up excitement for the enchanted event.  Each box housed an invitation, an eggling, excelsior and feathers of course. What is an eggling you ask?  Well naturally it is a an egg that sprouts flowers when cracked, seeded, and watered. The idea was that the guests would also be expecting a little surprise well after the baby shower was over.

The actual event was held at the Redwood Restaurant in Besthesda, Maryland and created a perfect backdrop for our theme.  Details included – Menus printed on fabric linen napkins by Petite-Fete, delicious cupcakes by Georgetown Cupcakes but beautifully assembled in tiered fashion by the fabulous Mika of A Cupcake Heaven, a Manzanita tree where guests pinned on suggestions of possible baby names,  lovely hydrangeas sprouting baby blue feathers, and little glass cloches protecting baby nests dotted the tables.  Guests took home mini ballotines of chocolate chips cookies baked fresh by One Girl Cookies in Brooklyn, New York especially for this event.  We all had a super good time and it was so much fun to mingle with all of the mother- to- be friends and family.  All is all in was a super chic event!

This past weekend despite the rain was sooo much fun!  Sunday was the Forest Hills Arts and Music Festival which I had the great pleasure of participating in.  The super fabulous concept for my pop-up shop was created by the ever creative dynamic duo Sierra and Juliet over at Poppies and Posies Events and was  “inspired by the French Provencal aesthetic.”  There were blueberry yes I said blueberry topiaries gracing the entry way.  Vintage crates and galvanized watering cans housing fields and fields of fragrant lavender, little terracotta pots dotted the tables doubles as sign holders.  This all created the perfect tablescape for Petite-Fete current stationery offerings.  I loved it and working with Juliet and Sierra was super fun!  See also the poppies and posies blog for more of their gorgeous designs and for more to come about  Petite-Fete’s tablescape.

Introducing Aussie’s answer to New York’s Amy AtlasScissors.Paper.Cake.    Just how cute are these cupcakes – way too cute to eat!   This is a melange of two fab women of course – one custom invitations designer see Imprintables,  the other a party styler and cupcake baker see Hello Naomi.  The whimsy here is totally over the top and I just love to see a theme carried out to o-b-s-e-s-s-i-v-e perfection.    I see how they are doing things down under and I am totally feeling their vibe.  For more super cute party styling ideas from this dynamic duo see imprintablesblog.

Being that I was busy at Petite-Fete’s table it was hard to snap pics at the other fab booths, so today I am offering up borrowed images.  In order, Booth display by Poppies and Posies, scrumptious cakes by Nine Cakes, display by the newly opened Lovely Bridal Shop, and table setting by Hatch Creative Studio.  One huge trend I did notice among a lot of the booth decor were lots of vintage suitcases – some were filled with flowers, photos, this and that … I guess I didn’t get the memo on that one!

To quote the ever creative Hadiya over at Sight Undefined, (yes, I am calling you out!:)  two weeks of not posting is like 2 months in blog time … but what better way to make a great come back but to bring you a sweet peek of how the New York Magazine Wedding Event 2010 went down.   In a word is was A-W-E-S-O-M-E.  We had so much fun and met so many great brides and made new friends.  Our booth was perfectly nestled between the ever talented and fabulous Betsy from Nine Cakes and the extraordinaire wedding style maker Colin Cowie!  There were so many super creative beings in one room it was truly nirvana.  We met Sierra from Poppies and Posies, the girls over at The Village InvitesCeci and of course we had to have a picture with Colin.  Stay tuned – tomorrow will showcase some of the other fabulous vendor tables.
