How cute is this!  I can’t stand it.  Sweetie Pie restaurant in the West Village is the perfect go to spot for a soiree out with the girls – us big girls and also the wee ones too.  Part tea salon, part dessert bar, part ice cream parlor, part restaurant,  part cocktail bar = a totally awesome experience.  With bright pink couches, mirrored everything, marble floors, and  a great bird cage that you can even opt to dine in -  This boite is so charming and the small cute details are endless.   Treat yourself to an afternoon of Alice in Wonderland followed by high tea at Sweetie Pie.  Now that would be sweet!

The lower east side Grand Opening Wedding Chapel is back – Vegas Style only in NYC.  Want to get married, remarried, or pretend get married  (hunh? ok well let’s just go with it) this is definitely for you!  The ever changing storefront at 139 Norfork Street is gearing up for a season of quickie nuptuals.  For about $350 you get the use of the space for 1 hour, an official officiant, seating for 24 guests, internet streaming, decorations, your name in lights, a photographer, and custom invitations.  The ceremony takes about 15 minutes and the remainder can be used to mingle, have  drinks, and cut cake.  You can also extend the celebration for an additional fee.  Its sounds like so much fun, romantic and super spontaneous.  I totally feeling like donning a white dress, grabbing my hubby and just going for it!

Last night I stayed up ’til the wee hours baking chocolate heart shortbreads for my daughter’s bake sale.  Between the mixing, dipping, cutting and bagging … ( hmmm it really sounds like I was engaging in a drug distribution assembly line but anyway I digress),  my mind wandered off to Boudoir Photography – don’t ask.  What is Boudoir Photography you ask?  See here (under boudoir), here, and oh now here also.  It seems to me like a trendy ritual amongst brides to “gift” their Intended with photos of themselves in their unmentionables.   It may be because its now 3 AM and that I am exhausted and satiated that I am going to set forth this bit of truth.  Two V-Days ago, I too set off to present my  husband with photos of me in my scanties.   What started as a fleeting thought became a whole 3 month project of finding the proper photographer, securing a make-up artist and hair stylist, taking up residence  in the dressing rooms of  Agent Provocateur and Kiki de Montparnasse.  I started to think that I had waaaaaaaaaaay too much time on my hands because I mean it really took on a life of itself.  What started out as me taking a few shots became me making a 20 page photo journal and diary about myself.  Fast forward to the day of shoot 11:00 AM – Here I was with my Fab team of “it” girls – Amber, Kat, & Lee who spent the next eight hours dressing me, powdering my nose, and fluffing my hair, to get the “it” shots.  In the midst of all this, the purpose of the shoot totally changed focus – I became the Intended.  This totally became about me.  I felt uninhibited, empowered, confident, sexy, and it was just CRAZY FUN!  I embarked on this whole self love journey that continues still now.  This was one of those experiences I will never forget and my sexy is forever preserved in print!  Now I look at the photos and all I can do is smile and think to myself “I ROCK!”.  Oh yeah, and it was V-E-R-Y much appreciated by my Hubbie  and it has become the gift that keeps on giving- nuff said!

{Bag It, Borrow It or Steal It}

20090707_rotate1-1

How does an incorrigible fashionista score all the latest goods at a discount – well rent it I say.   I mean I guess its not really a new concept – celebrities have always rented the latest couture and bling for events.  And too, we’ve all heard of Netflix.   Last night I visited Bag, Borrow, or Steal and I must have spent at least 30 minutes on that site oogling all the couture candy.  I went from bags, to jewelery, to watches, and back to bags.  I mean let’s face it the shelf life of an “It” handbag is about 6 months if you’re lucky.  This allows you always have the next it piece and your cash savings to boot.  Rentals are by the month or if your fickle by the week.  Of course the pricing is tiered depending on your level of extravagance.  Ever the curious one I may have a go at it.  How are we feeling about this?
