Being a girl from New York, fashion is just everywhere. Every street is a runway and everyone can carry off their own unique style and it’s totally expected and accepted. I can’t say my head did not turn whiplash style and full body scan a lot of the women strutting their stuff down the streets of Copacabana and Leblon. Okay, I think one or two stalker alerts may have been put out for me. Kudos to them cause they are hot, they know it and they are proud of it. Those women are most definitely bringing the fashion!

Monday, November 30th, 2009
I have been away for the past few weeks – I journeyed south to Venezuela and Rio, Brazil. In Venezuela, I visited the national park comprised of beautiful islands of Los Roques. It was an amazing few days on the island where I tired myself out by visiting a new island daily – sometimes 3 times a day, basking in the sun, yatching, fishing my lobster dinner, carousing with old and new friends, and of course indulging in one too many mojitos. Reason for my Venezuela trip: I had the honor of attending the romantic chic beach wedding of two very special people.
To get on the island, a charter is required from Caracas and 30 mins later you’ve landed on minutes strip of beach. There you hop on charter boats or yatchs and off you are to a sand dune in the middle of the ocean to just chill-axe for the whole day. The day is spent just dipping in and out waters that are aqua blue and turquoise for miles around. Los Roques would have been enough of an adventure. But topped off with my friend wedding made it that much more magical. The wedding ceremony and celebration were directly on the beach amongst the waves and moored fishing boats. Decors were simple yet chic, foods were creative and delicious, the drinks were fruity and yummy. It was well – perfect.
The islands of Los Roques are very quaint and not touristy in the slightest. We stayed in a little inn called Pousada Acuarela. Super cute little “hotel” if you will, that has lots of foliage, totally open air and small courtyard. The whole place is outfitted in wooded and white seating areas. Probably one of the cutest places to stay on the island. The food is also very good there as well.
All in all it was an amazing trip and I really can’t wait to go back.

{Day #2 – East Hampton}
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009
Another seamless day at the beach. Where Shelter Island is laid back and serene, East Hampton has a more casual sophistication. Lots of Louboutin wearing and Chloé toting fashionistas around. Start your day at Main Beach, one top 10 prettiest beaches in all of the United States. For munchies bring a pincic lunch from the various cafes such as Lunch in Amagansette or Golden Pear Cafe with 5 locations. Later, go strut your stuff down Newtown Lane and shop ’til you drop. To satisfy my boho chic style, a few doses of Calypso is always a sure bet. I always feel like a stepped into an ice cream shop with 50 different flavors. Love It! In need of nap after a hard day of leisure? Lay your head to rest at the classic beach style cottage Mill House Inn. Very Satisfactory!

How absolutely divine. After an hour and half drive from NYC and a short but scenic ferry ride to arrive at a lovely seaside resort with a french flair. Sunset Beach Hotel I have heard is a slice of San Tropez right here in New York. I’ve never been so I can’t rely compare but it definitely makes me want to take the next flight to the South of France. Hmmm, on second thought I might as well enjoy this version, n’est ce pas? This hotel is situated right on Crescent Beach and is fully equipped with beach umbrellas and loungers to pass the day away with a steady flow of André Balaz’s Sunset Beach Rose Wine in hand. If that is not quite enough activity then beach volleyball, kayaking, shopping and people watching is sure to keep you occupied. So far this trip is shaping up quite lovely. Stay tuned for more …
